Engineer - Hydraulic System - FPX

Introduction:

#

Design, analyze, and optimize hydraulic systems for forging plants. Develop robust, safe, and cost-e?ective solutions for hydraulic power units, control valves, actuators, and ?uid circuits. Collaborate with project teams across mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines to support new builds, revamps, and maintenance projects.

Responsibilities:

Create hydraulic system concepts and ?nal designs for manifolds, reservoirs, pumps, motors, and actuators.

Perform sizing, selection, and reliability analysis of hydraulic components to meet performance, safety, and lifecycle targets.

Develop hydraulic schematics, component speci?cations, bill of materials, and installation/commissioning packages.

Conduct pressure/?ow calculations, loss analysis, and ?uid dynamics simulations as required.

Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ATEX, OSHA/IEC, ISO 4413/4414, IS 10481) and working with other plant safety standards.

Collaborate with mechanical design for controls & instrumentation teams to integrate systems.

Support procurement with vendor evaluation, technical queries, and assisting site team for commissioning and FATs.

Participate in risk assessments, FAT and commissioning plans; assist in troubleshooting and ?eld modi?cations.

Maintain asset data & design documentation.

Technical Skill Set:

Strong analytical and numerical skills; adept at performing hydraulic calculations.

Detail-oriented with a methodical approach to design documentation.

Preparing technical reports and presentation materials for stakeholders.

Solid knowledge of hydraulic theory, ?uid power components & seals etc.

Pro?ciency with hydraulic CAD tools (e.g., PTC Creo) and 2D AutoCAD drafting systems; familiarity with any hydraulic simulation software is a plus.

Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control philosophies; good reading of mechanical and process drawings.

Behavioral Skills Set:

Should have excellent interpersonal skills and with very good communication skills (both verbal and written). Should have a grasp of technical aspects, with an eye for detail.

Should be able to interpret the meaning behind statements / action from the customer.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

Proactive in issue resolution, resilience under project pressure, and commitment to quality.

Willingness to travel for site support, commissioning, and vendor visits as required.

Work Environment:

Projects span design o?ces, potential travel to customer sites, vendors, and fabrication/assembly facilities.

Works within a multidisciplinary engineering team for forging plant industry.

YOU KNOW

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering

12-16 years of experience in hydraulic system design, preferably in heavy industry.
