Job Summary:
The Design Engineer will develop, iterate, and validate designs for various types of chains and related components using CAD software. This role requires in-depth knowledge of material science, stress analysis, and manufacturing techniques like stamping, heat treatment, and forging to ensure high-performance, cost-effective products.
Key Responsibilities:

• Product Design & Development: Conceptualize and design new chain products, including roller chains, conveyor chains, and specialty chains, ensuring compliance with ISO, ANSI, or DIN standards.
• CAD Modeling & Engineering Drawings: Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor, ensuring accurate dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Optimize designs for production processes (stamping, forging, heat treating) to reduce cost, material waste, and manufacturing complexity.
• Simulation & Testing: Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate stress, fatigue, and strength, and oversee prototype testing (e.g., tensile strength, fatigue testing).
• Material Selection: Select suitable steel grades and heat treatment processes (carburizing, hardening) to meet wear resistance and strength requirements.
• Tooling Design: Design jigs, fixtures, and stamping dies for chain link production, assembly, and inspection.
• Engineering Change Management: Document design changes (ECR/ECO) and maintain technical records for existing product lines to enhance performance or correct defects.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, and sales teams to resolve manufacturing issues and meet customer requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years in mechanical design, preferably in precision manufacturing, fasteners, or heavy engineering environments.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Inventor) and FEA simulation tools.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and metal stamping.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis and stress calculations.
• Certifications: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (Six Sigma) or GD&T certification is a plus.
