Job Description

Summary Mechanical Engineer - Gas Turbine Combustion, applies fundamental design principles to ensure Gas Turbine combustion component durability and bring reliable power to the people with lower emissions. In this role, you will be responsible for design, analysis, addressing manufacturing/assembly issues, testing & validation of combustion components. This role will provide opportunity to apply creativity, imagination to develop combustion system for world class gas turbine engines considering cost, reliability, operability and emissions.

You will interact with world's best minds to advance cutting edge combustion technology and produce cleaner energy.



Roles and Responsibilities

  • This role involves mechanical design and component ownership of Gas Turbine Combustion hardware on HA and F Class Frame.
  • Execute Mechanical design of combustion system for various gas turbine engine using sound engineering principles and adhering to the business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Perform structural and thermal durability assessment with 1D calculations and FEA analysis. Interpret the analysis results, suggest and generate the ideas to improve the combustion system design.
  • Design combustion components in collaboration with cross functional teams (Aero Thermal, manufacturing, product services) to meet program goals related to combustion system and overall gas turbine product requirements.
  • Provide on time resolution to combustion fleet issues with highest quality.
  • Interface effectively with external supplier base to provide timely support on manufacturing processes and issues.
  • Contribute towards variable cost productivity for combustion components. Take an active role in the continuous improvement of processes.
  • Demonstrate mindset of ownership and accountability to achieve goals.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's or bachelor's in engineering with specialization in Mechanical, Design and Applied mechanics.
  • 2+ years of experience in the field of gas turbine mechanical design, development and testing or in a related engineering discipline.
Desired Characteristics
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership skills and ability to work well in a team environment with a positive "can do" attitude.
  • Experience with LCF, HCF, fracture mechanics, high temp creep calculations and assessment.
  • Experience in working with supplier for part qualifications.
  • Fleet life management and Component Testing experience
  • Excellent technical articulation and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of GE Power product line and its combustion system.
  • Self-starter and ability to handle multiple projects.
