Job Description

Equipment Preparation and Maintenance:

Setting up, cleaning, disinfecting, and calibrating endoscopes and other equipment according to manufacturer and facility standards.

Assisting During Procedures:

Supporting physicians and nurses during procedures, including passing instruments, positioning patients, and monitoring vital signs.

Patient Care:

Assisting patients with preparation, ensuring their comfort and safety during the procedure, and potentially collecting specimens.

Sterilization and Infection Control:

Maintaining a sterile environment, cleaning and sterilizing equipment after procedures, and following infection control protocols.

Inventory and Documentation:

Managing equipment and supply inventories, documenting procedures, and maintaining accurate records.
Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in handling and maintaining endoscopic equipment, understanding sterilization procedures, and assisting with various endoscopic techniques.

Communication Skills:

Effective communication with physicians, nurses, and patients, as well as the ability to follow instructions and document procedures accurately.

Attention to Detail:

Ensuring thorough cleaning, proper equipment setup, and accurate record-keeping.

Physical Stamina:

The ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning and movement.

Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology:

Understanding basic human anatomy and physiology, particularly related to the gastrointestinal system.
Career Advancement:Endoscopy technicians may advance to roles with greater responsibility, such as:

Senior Technician:

Taking on more complex tasks, training junior technicians, and potentially managing equipment inventory.

Lead Technician:

Overseeing the endoscopy unit, coordinating procedures, and ensuring compliance with standards and protocols.
