The

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care, responding to medical emergencies, and transporting patients safely to healthcare facilities. This role involves rapid decision-making, life-saving interventions, and effective communication with medical teams to ensure optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Emergency Response & Patient Care:

Respond to emergency calls and provide immediate medical assistance. Assess patient conditions and determine appropriate emergency care procedures. Administer basic life support (BLS), including CPR, airway management, and wound care. Stabilize patients with trauma, cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or other medical emergencies. Monitor vital signs and provide initial treatment before hospital admission.

Patient Transport & Safety:

Safely transport patients to hospitals or medical facilities in ambulances. Ensure proper handling and movement of critically ill or injured patients. Communicate with emergency room staff to provide detailed reports on patient conditions.

Medical Equipment Handling:

Operate and maintain emergency medical equipment such as defibrillators, oxygen tanks, and stretchers. Ensure all ambulance supplies are stocked and in working condition. Sanitize and maintain emergency equipment as per hospital and safety regulations.

Documentation & Compliance:

Maintain accurate records of patient conditions, treatments, and interventions. Follow local, state, and hospital protocols for emergency medical services. Ensure adherence to infection control and safety guidelines.

Team Collaboration & Training:

Work alongside paramedics, nurses, and emergency physicians in high-pressure situations. Assist in training programs for first responders and emergency teams. Participate in emergency drills and continuing education sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Diploma or Certification in Emergency Medical Technology. Valid EMT certification (as per national/state regulations). BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred. Strong knowledge of emergency medical procedures and first aid. Ability to assess and manage critical situations under pressure. Proficiency in using emergency medical equipment and tools.
