Train and counsel adolescent students (Grade IX- XII) in life and employability skills (with special focus on functional English, Financial literacy, Digital Literacy, Career Awareness) to make them employable.
Work with schools, and Magic Bus teams for smooth implementation of the programme and eventual job placement or transition to higher education and trade skills training of students
Roles and responsibilities
Deliver life and employability sessions for students in class and on field using the physical and digital learning resources and develop life and employability skills in students with special focus on functional English.
Should be open to conducting both in-school and in-community sessions.
Making need based home visits and interacting with community stakeholders for achieving programme outcomes.
Counsel students for choosing career paths based on their aptitude and interests
Be familiar with different industries and careers available in the region and identify students' skill building needs and opportunities to make them ready for jobs available locally.
Ensure students complete their application projects identified for the programme
Track student achievement and proficiency in the life and employability skills (digital literacy, financial literacy, career awareness, functional English with added focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health) and maintain a portfolio of each student to identify development needs.
Work with the curriculum team and Magic Bus content partners to identify new content for addressing students' needs
Prepare yearly, monthly and weekly plans to ensure timely completion of desired learning objectives outlined in project
Conduct workshops for parents to create an enabling atmosphere for students to go for jobs or higher education/trade skills training after Grade XII
Assist and participate in activities organized by the Placement team such as employer visits, career fairs, job/workplace exposure, expert visits to ensure students have an adequate understanding of various industries and careers
Coordinate with the local livelihood team for training and employer connect
Be responsible for resource inventory and digital devices (tablets) in each school considering safety, maintenance, and replacement of devices per requirement
Manage digital learning content and apps for students
Provide data and reports about the programme, school, and student performance using various data recording platforms used in Magic Bus
Experience, Skills, Qualifications
3 to 5 years of experience in life skills/soft skills training and career counselling
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and local language; proficiency in English and non-verbal communication is mandatory.
Strong digital learning skills for training others and for self-learning
Good facilitation skills and ability create classroom learning activities based on topic
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and with all levels of staff, volunteers, and school authorities
Strong learning-to-learn skills for picking up new soft skills subject areas quickly
Ability to mentor students for higher aspirations and skill building
Graduation in any stream and certification in career counselling
Knowledge of Financial Literacy and Sexual & Reproductive Health will be desirable.
Technology
Proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, Excel (knowing formulas and functions will be an added advantage)
Ability to manage various content platforms and apps for learning
Ability to manage and do basic troubleshooting for Android tablets
Ability to communicate over emails and social media effectively
Ability to manage online communication and social media for employment
