Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment

: ER nurses are often the first healthcare professionals to assess patients upon arrival. They perform initial evaluations to determine the severity of the patient's condition and prioritize care accordingly.

Triage

: They triage patients based on the urgency of their medical needs, ensuring that those with life-threatening conditions receive immediate attention.

Administering Care

: ER nurses administer medications, perform medical procedures, and monitor vital signs. They are responsible for implementing treatment plans prescribed by physicians and ensuring that patients receive appropriate care.

Collaboration

: They work closely with physicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Effective communication is essential to ensure that all team members are informed about the patient's condition and treatment plan.

Emotional Support

: ER nurses provide emotional support to patients and their families during stressful situations. They explain procedures, answer questions, and help alleviate fears about medical treatments.

Documentation
