The Emergency Physician will provide immediate and high-quality medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, trauma, and life-threatening conditions. The role requires expertise in resuscitation, stabilization, diagnosis, and management of patients in the Emergency Department (ED), while ensuring adherence to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Provide immediate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients presenting to the ED.
Manage medical emergencies, trauma cases, and critically ill patients effectively.
Perform resuscitation procedures, airway management, ventilatory support, and advanced life support interventions.
Coordinate and oversee triage to prioritize patients based on clinical urgency.
Ensure smooth handover of patients to inpatient care or referral centers.
Procedures & Interventions
Perform emergency procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, thoracostomy, suturing, fracture reduction, etc.
Supervise and assist junior doctors, nurses, and paramedics in emergency care.
Ensure compliance with advanced life support protocols (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS as applicable).
Patient Safety & Quality
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical assessments, treatment, and outcomes.
Monitor patients' progress and update families about patient condition.
Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality standards of the hospital.
Teamwork & Leadership
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (ICU, OT, Radiology, Laboratory, Specialists).
Train, guide, and mentor junior medical staff, residents, and emergency nursing teams.
Participate in emergency simulations, mock drills, and disaster preparedness activities.
Administrative & Reporting
Maintain medical records in EMR and hospital systems.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medico-legal documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in department audits, quality improvement initiatives, and mortality review meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
: MBBS with MD / DNB in Emergency Medicine or General Medicine, or equivalent.
Certification
: ACLS, ATLS, PALS mandatory/preferred.
Experience
: Minimum 2-5 years of post-qualification experience in Emergency Medicine in a multispecialty hospital.
