Group Description:

The EMEA Capital Markets Legal Group is part of the EMEA CIB Legal Department based in London supporting EMEA Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and EMEA Debt Capital Markets (DCM) business.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible primarily for reviewing and executing EMEA EMTN Programme updates to which J.P. Morgan acts as a Dealer, including working on EMTN Programme establishments, arrangerships and accessions. In time, the candidate will also have the opportunity to support a range of MTN debt securities transactions, work on bespoke projects and different products as appropriate. The candidate will closely work with the business teams and Legal colleagues globally.
  • Pro-actively support the business groups across EMEA and other offices globally which originate transactions, through review and negotiation of legal documents, legal advice, and providing guidance on risk assessment and solutions
  • Liaise with the business teams, other control areas and colleagues in Legal in setting/maintaining documentation standards, internal policies and monitoring relevant legal, regulatory and documentation developments
  • Pro-actively sharing experience and know-how with colleagues in Legal, where appropriate globally. Provide training to the business and within Legal as appropriate
  • Participation in Legal and Firm-wide projects

Qualifications and Experience
  • a minimum of 2 years' PQE in India (additional qualification from US and/or England & Wales will be viewed favorably).
  • International capital markets experience in a top tier law firm and/or in-house experience in comparable financial institution MTN programme related work experience will be viewed favorably but is not a prerequisite.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to interact with senior business personnel and stakeholders in other functions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to cover matters across time zones with regional and global stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and appropriately priorities to meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player, proactively and multi-task.
  • Self-directed and highly motivated attitude coupled with an ability to work collaboratively in a high performing team.
  • Attorney must be licensed to practice law in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.
All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
