Position Summary:

The Eligibility and Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance coverage and determining eligibility for services prior to patient appointments or procedures. This role ensures that all insurance information is accurate and up to date to avoid billing issues, denials, or delays in claims processing. The specialist serves as a liaison between patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits using online portals, payer websites, or by contacting insurance carriers. Accurately input and update insurance information into the electronic health record (EHR) or billing system. Ensure prior authorizations or referrals are obtained when required. Communicate with patients regarding insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and required documentation. Work closely with scheduling, billing, and clinical departments to ensure accurate data flow and timely resolution of insurance-related issues. Monitor and resolve discrepancies or issues that could result in claim denials. Stay informed about changes in insurance policies, payer guidelines, and healthcare regulations. Document verification efforts, outcomes, and communications clearly and accurately. Handle confidential patient information with discretion and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
