The Elevator Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining the electrical systems and control circuits of elevators, escalators, and related vertical transportation systems. The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, PLC systems, and compliance with safety and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development:
Design electrical circuits and control systems for elevators and escalators.
Create wiring diagrams, layout plans, and electrical schematics.
Select electrical components (motors, drives, relays, controllers) based on load calculations and system requirements.
Installation & Commissioning:
Supervise and support installation of elevator electrical systems on-site.
Conduct wiring, termination, and setup of control panels and drives.
Perform system tests and fine-tune controls during commissioning.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose and repair faults in elevator control systems, wiring, and automation.
Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure safe operation.
Provide technical support for service and maintenance teams.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure compliance with national and international electrical safety standards.
Prepare and maintain documentation for regulatory approvals and audits.
Stay updated with local elevator codes (such as IS, EN, or ASME standards).
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with mechanical engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
Prepare project timelines, reports, and update stakeholders regularly.
Support procurement by specifying electrical materials and systems.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in elevator systems, building automation, or industrial control panels.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, relay logic, and HMI systems.
Experience with elevator controller systems (e.g., Monarch, BLT, ARK, or similar).
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
Understanding of safety standards like ISO, IEC, or EN 81.
Certifications (Preferred):
Licensed Electrical Engineer or Elevator Certification
Safety training (e.g., OSHA, HSE)
Work Environment:
Work involves both office-based design and on-site technical support.
May require travel to customer sites for installation and troubleshooting.
Must follow strict safety guidelines while working at heights or in shaft areas.
