Electronics Design Engineer - UAV EO/IR Camera Hardware
to design, develop, and ruggedize electronic systems for Electro-Optical (EO) and Infrared (IR) payloads used in UAVs and defense applications. The role requires expertise in high-speed camera hardware, sensor integration, and designing mission-critical electronics capable of operating in harsh environmental and military-grade conditions.
#
Roles and Responsibilities:
Design and develop electronic hardware for EO/IR payload systems used in UAVs.
Integrate high-performance CMOS/IR sensors, thermal imaging modules, and video processors.
Develop and optimize real-time video transmission electronics (HDMI, SDI, LVDS, MIPI, Ethernet).
Work on rugged, low-SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) designs for airborne payloads.
Implement power management systems for camera modules to ensure efficiency and reliability in UAV platforms.
Ensure hardware meets defense-grade MIL-STD environmental and EMI/EMC standards.
Collaborate with optics, gimbal/mechanical, and embedded software teams for seamless payload integration.
Conduct lab and field testing for performance validation under vibration, temperature extremes, and high-altitude conditions.
Prepare technical documentation, design reviews, and support defense qualification processes.
#
Desired Skills:
Strong expertise in analog/digital circuit design for EO/IR camera electronics.
Hands-on experience with thermal camera modules, IR detectors, and image sensors.
Proficiency with high-speed interfaces (MIPI CSI, LVDS, HDMI, SDI, GigE).
Familiarity with FPGA/SoC-based video processing and camera control systems.
Knowledge of real-time video compression (H.264/H.265) and telemetry integration.
Experience with ruggedized PCB design, including thermal and EMI/EMC considerations.
Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or equivalent defense/aerospace standards.
Ability to design for long endurance UAV missions with power efficiency focus.
Qualification :
Bachelor's / Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Embedded Systems.
Experience :
3-7 years of experience in camera hardware design, EO/IR systems, or UAV payload development.
Prior experience :
defense, aerospace, or UAV-based imaging systems is highly preferred.
