Job Description

A Site Electrician's job is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment on a construction or project site. This includes reading blueprints, installing wiring and fixtures, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring safety and compliance with electrical codes. They also work with other tradespeople and follow project schedules. Key Responsibilities:

Installation:

Install wiring, lighting, control systems, and other electrical components according to blueprints and specifications.

Maintenance & Repair:

Perform routine inspections, troubleshoot problems, and repair or replace faulty wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

Blueprint Reading:

Interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to understand electrical layouts and requirements.

Safety:

Adhere to safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and ensure a safe work environment.

Compliance:

Comply with all pertinent building codes, electrical codes (like the NEC), and other regulations.

Testing:

Test electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.

Documentation:

Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.

Communication:

Work with other tradespeople, architects, contractors, and clients.

Problem Solving:

Diagnose and address electrical problems and functionality issues.

Training:

May train or supervise apprentices.
Required Skills:

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of electrical theory, blueprint reading, and electrical tools.

Problem-Solving:

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in various positions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
