Job Description

The Civil Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in the surface and underground civil infrastructure of the coal mine. This includes lighting systems, power distribution, pumps, conveyors, ventilation fans, substations, and general site electrical services. The role ensures all work complies with safety, statutory, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and equipment within civil and mining infrastructure. Diagnose and repair electrical faults in lighting, power circuits, and control systems. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems in workshops, offices, shafts, conveyors, pumps, and other surface/underground facilities. Assist in the installation and maintenance of substations, transformers, MCC panels, and switchboards. Ensure compliance with mine site electrical safety regulations and Australian Standards (AS3000 / AS3007 or relevant local standards). Perform electrical isolation and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures safely before maintenance work. Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records. Participate in shutdowns, breakdown response, and planned maintenance activities. Support continuous improvement in electrical systems reliability and energy efficiency. Work collaboratively with other trades and departments to ensure safe and efficient mine operations.
