The Electrician for KLOVE Studio is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical systems that support the station's broadcast, production, and office environments. This role performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical infrastructure, including studio equipment power, lighting systems, emergency power systems, and facility wiring.
Perform routine inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance of the studio's electrical systems.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues affecting broadcast equipment, lighting, HVAC power, office spaces, and building components.
Respond promptly to electrical emergencies to minimize downtime and maintain broadcast continuity.
Installation & Upgrades
Install wiring, circuits, outlets, conduit, panels, and other electrical components according to plans and codes.
Assist engineering and broadcast teams with power needs for new studio builds, remodels, and equipment upgrades.
Support the installation of UPS systems, generators, surge protection, and power distribution equipment.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all work complies with NEC, local electrical codes, and KLOVE safety standards.
Maintain accurate documentation of electrical work, inspections, and system changes.
Identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with broadcast engineers, IT, facilities personnel, and contractors.
Provide electrical support during live events, studio recordings, and equipment installations.
Communicate technical issues clearly and professionally to non-technical personnel.
Qualifications Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid electrician license or certification (Journeyman or equivalent).
3+ years of commercial, industrial, or studio-related electrical experience.
Strong knowledge of NEC, electrical theory, and safe work practices.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
Experience with conduit bending, panel work, and power distribution.
Preferred
Experience in broadcast facilities, recording studios, or media production environments.
Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, clean power systems, and grounding for AV/broadcast equipment.
Ability to assist with low-voltage systems (network racks, audio wiring, lighting control, etc.).
