Responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems, wiring, and equipment on ships, ensuring compliance with marine electrical standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and connect electrical wiring, switchboards, lighting systems, and power distribution panels on ships.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical circuits, control systems, and marine electronics.
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of motors, generators, navigation lights, alarms, and other electrical equipment.
Test electrical systems using meters, megger, and other diagnostic tools to ensure safety and functionality.
Ensure compliance with ship classification society rules, marine safety regulations, and company quality standards.
Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other trades during ship construction, refitting, and repair works.
Maintain records of electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Follow proper lockout/tagout and safety procedures to prevent hazards.
Qualifications & Skills:
ITI/Diploma in Electrical or Marine Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, or marine industries.
Knowledge of marine electrical codes, standards, and safety procedures.
