Job Description

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across university buildings and infrastructure. This role ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations and supports a safe and functional environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in classrooms, labs, residences, and other university facilities. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including power outages, faulty wiring, and malfunctioning devices. Install new electrical systems and upgrades as needed for construction or renovation projects. Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical code specifications. Maintain logs of work performed and materials used. Ensure all work complies with national and local electrical codes, safety regulations, and university policies. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other tradespeople as required. Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues. Participate in scheduled on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance coverage, if required. Assist in planning and estimating costs for electrical projects. Maintain inventory of electrical supplies and request replacements as needed.
