JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for the end-to-end technical design and optimization of residential, commercial, and industrial (C&I) solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop solutions. This role is critical in ensuring maximum energy yield, compliance with all relevant codes, and cost-effectiveness of all solar installations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

System Design & Optimization:

Perform detailed site surveys (virtual and physical) and energy consumption analysis to determine optimal system size and configuration.





Create detailed 2D/3D system layouts and single-line diagrams (SLDs) using specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp)

Documentation & Compliance:

Prepare comprehensive technical proposal documents and bid submissions.





Ensure all designs adhere to relevant national and local electrical codes, building standards, and utility interconnection requirements.





Generate and manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement.

Collaboration & Support:

Liaise with the sales team to provide technical support during the customer acquisition phase.





Collaborate with the project management and installation teams to ensure the design is executed accurately and efficiently on-site.





Troubleshoot design-related issues that arise during installation.

R&D and Training:

Stay abreast of the latest solar technology, components, and industry best practices.





Suggest innovative design techniques to improve system performance and reduce costs.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

B.E/ BTech (Electrical)

WORK EXPERIENCE

5-10 years of professional experience specifically in designing and engineering rooftop solar PV systems (residential, commercial, or utility-scale). Proven track record of successfully designing and delivering projects from concept to commissioning.
Experience in preparing detailed technical documentation (SLDs, Layouts, BOMs, Calculations).

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

Software Proficiency: Mandatory expertise in PVsyst (or similar simulation software) and AutoCAD. Familiarity with Helioscope, SketchUp, and MS Office Suite is essential. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles related to AC/DC power, grounding, earthing, and overcurrent protection. Code Compliance: Strong knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, local grid codes). Structural & Mechanical: Basic understanding of structural loads and mounting mechanisms for various roof types. Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex site constraints and develop creative, cost-effective solutions.
