Operate, inspect, and maintain shipboard electrical systems including:
Power generation and distribution systems
Lighting systems
Electrical motors and control systems
Emergency power systems
2. Electronic and Automation Systems
Monitor and maintain:
Navigational and communication equipment (e.g., radar, GPS, radios)
Alarm and monitoring systems
Fire detection and suppression systems
Engine room automation systems
3. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with maritime electrical safety standards (e.g., SOLAS, ISM Code, class regulations)
Conduct routine safety checks and participate in drills
Maintain up-to-date documentation and maintenance logs
4. Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose faults in electrical and electronic systems
Carry out or oversee repairs using technical manuals and circuit diagrams
Liaise with shore-based support for major repairs or upgrades
5. Inventory & Resource Management
Manage inventory of electrical spare parts and tools
Raise requisitions for spare parts and coordinate with procurement teams
6. Support to Engineering Department
Assist Chief and Second Engineers during machinery overhauls and dry-docking
Contribute to technical reports, risk assessments, and maintenance planning
Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Valid STCW certification for Electro-Technical Officer (or equivalent)
Basic Safety Training (BST)
Medical Fitness Certificate
Prior sea experience in a similar role
