Job Description

Electrical maintenance in the hotel industry ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems, covering guest rooms (lighting, HVAC, power outlets), back-of-house (kitchen, laundry, elevators), and core infrastructure (switchgear, distribution boards) through routine checks, preventive tasks, and prompt breakdown repairs, requiring skilled technicians to manage everything from troubleshooting guest requests to managing complex building systems and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key Areas of Focus



Guest Room Systems:

Keeping lighting, AC units, TVs, and bathroom fixtures operational and resolving guest-reported issues swiftly.

Back-of-House Equipment:

Maintaining electricals for kitchens, laundry, elevators, and mechanical systems (HVAC).

Building Infrastructure:

Servicing distribution boards (DBs), switchgear, MCCs, and low-voltage networks.

Safety & Compliance:

Adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards for all electrical installations.

Types of Maintenance



Preventive Maintenance (PM):

Regular inspections and servicing to prevent failures (e.g., checking circuit breakers).

Corrective/Breakdown Maintenance:

Responding to and fixing faults as they occur (e.g., a guest room blackout).

Routine/Daily Checks:

Quick inspections of critical systems.

Predictive Maintenance:

Using data to predict failures before they happen (e.g., monitoring equipment temperature).

Responsibilities of Hotel Electricians/Engineers



Troubleshooting & Repair:

Diagnosing and fixing electrical faults across the property.

Installation & Assembly:

Setting up new electrical equipment and systems.

Testing & Inspection:

Ensuring all systems function correctly and safely.

Record Keeping:

Documenting maintenance activities and reports.

Coordination:

Working with housekeeping, front office, and external contractors.
