An Electrical Maintenance Engineer in a fabrication environment is responsible for ensuring the reliable and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment within a fabrication facility. This includes tasks like troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation of electrical components, as well as working with PLCs, CNC controls, and other automation systems. They also play a crucial role in preventing electrical issues, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on machinery and equipment, including CNC machines, machining centers, and hobbing machines.
Preventive Maintenance:
Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks to identify potential issues before they cause failures and downtime.
Installation and Commissioning:
Assisting with the installation of new equipment and ensuring proper electrical connections and system integration.
PLC and CNC Systems:
Working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and CNC controls to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to automation systems.
Compliance:
Ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and relevant regulations, such as IATF and EMS standards.
Collaboration:
Working with other members of the maintenance team, production personnel, and other departments to optimize manufacturing processes and minimize downtime.
Documentation:
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment condition.
Spares Management:
Identifying and managing necessary spare parts for electrical systems and equipment.
Process Optimization:
Collaborating with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce downtime, ensuring efficient operation of equipment.
Safety Procedures:
Implementing and following established safety procedures and protocols to minimize risks in the workplace.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including motors, transformers, circuit breakers, wiring, and control systems.
Troubleshooting:
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using appropriate tools and techniques.
PLC and CNC Knowledge:
Experience with PLCs and CNC controls, including programming and troubleshooting.
Reading Schematics:
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
Communication:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other team members and departments.
