We are building a team for engineering of compressors, blowers for local and global projects. This position needs to undertake the design and engineering of Instrumentation, Electrical and control for Howden equipment packages like Reciprocating Compressor, Diaphragm Compressor, Centrifugal Compressor, Screw compressors packages (traditionally high specification, API market, onshore and offshore), delivering a high standard of work to the required specifications whilst meeting delivery and budget objectives
What Needs To Be Done?


  • Undertake the design of Instrumentation & Electrical control for Howden equipment packages supplied for various industries.

  • Execute Electrical and Controls Design activities relating to the packaging and Commissioning of Howden Compressors, Blowers and Fans for Indian Market in compliance to Howden std and customer/project requirements

  • Assist all other Howden India departments in all aspects of control and instrumentation for contract or proposal execution.

  • Give technical advice and assistance to customers on Howden’s C&I technology.

  • Build Control & Instrumentation capability in India to reduce cost of Engineering and response time on Compressors, Blower Packages and Fans for Indian Market.

  • Provide Engineering specification to Procurement and support in clarifications with Vendors

  • Provide technical support for proposals – control systems, communication interfaces and instrumentation

  • Actively participate in commissioning at site during installation as and when required

  • Work in tandem with Howden mechanical design engineers to design C&I systems for Howden products

  • Write technical specifications to define purchased items.

  • Produce cabling, wiring and block schematic drawings of main C&I components using Autocad or appropriate software tools.

  • Approve and review C&I, technical specifications and drawings produced by mechanical design engineer.

  • Utilise knowledge and/or experience to provide support to other Howden engineers and all other departments as required.

  • Conduct or attend testing of C&I products (including purchased items) and provide a written report within agreed time frameworks

  • Working predominantly using own initiative with limited need for support.

  • Production of C&I designs & specifications, approval of drawings, specifications and suppliers equipment.

  • Ensure quality and design integrity of product.

  • Design to budget and within timeframe.

What Do You Need To Bring?
Essential skills, knowledge and behaviours

  • BE in Instrumentation / Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with 03-05 years of hands on experience from similar background.

  • Good practical C&I skills.

  • Experience in C&I design, large/small motors, drive packages and actuators.

  • Experience in Designing of Control panel / control philosophy and basic understanding of PLC programming.

  • Knowledge of Process Industry specifications and standard.

  • Working experience on various PLCs, control circuits and various PLC Network protocols.

  • Preferably from Rotating Equipment Manufacturing Industry.

  • Visit site for equipment assessment or troubleshooting purposes.

  • Preparation of technical reports and submissions

  • Technical presentations to customers/customer meetings

  • Computer literacy, competency in MS Office applications

  • Proficiency in Auto Cad and knowledge of Inventor.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of programmable systems including ladder diagrams.

  • ATEX/CCOE and other equivalent std knowledge.

  • Excellent Problem solving ability

Desirable skills, knowledge and behaviors

  • Technical report writing

  • Ability to make technical presentations

  • Experience in Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, Chemical and water industry .

  • Experience in design of systems for rotating equipment (preferable compressors)

  • Experience and Knowledge about compressor operation and controls

  • Hands on site experience.

  • Good mechanical knowledge

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems.

  • Ability to perform design calculations and analysis from ‘first principles
