power distribution systems, including transformers, switchgears, and MCC panels.
Ensure the reliability of large
AC/DC motors
and their respective drives (
VFDs
), which are critical for mill speed synchronization.
Monitor and optimize the plant's
Power Factor
to avoid penalties and reduce energy costs.
2. Automation & Instrumentation
Troubleshoot and maintain
PLC systems
(e.g., Siemens, ABB, or Rockwell) and
SCADA/HMI
interfaces.
Manage field instrumentation such as pyrometers, proximity sensors, load cells, and encoders used for tracking material on the mill line.
Perform software backups and implement logic modifications to improve mill productivity.
3. Breakdown & Preventive Planning
Design and execute an
Electrical Preventive Maintenance (PM)
calendar to prevent flashovers, motor burnouts, and cable failures.
Lead the electrical team during "cobble" situations or emergency breakdowns to restore power and control logic swiftly.
Conduct
Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
on electrical failures to prevent recurrence.
4. Safety & Compliance
Enforce strict adherence to electrical safety codes (e.g., IEEE or local electricity board standards).
Oversee the
Earthing and Lightning Protection
systems across the plant.
Manage the
Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO)
process for the electrical department during shutdowns.
