Designing the overall power system, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), power distribution plans, and control systems for the DG sets.
Equipment Sizing and Specification:
Performing calculations to appropriately size generators, transformers, switchgear, breakers, cables, and earthing systems.
Layouts:
Preparing detailed electrical layouts for equipment placement, cable routing, and control rooms using design software like AutoCAD or Revit.
Documentation:
Creating detailed technical documentation, reports, specifications, and project plans for all electrical aspects of the DG line.
Installation and Commissioning:
Supervision:
Overseeing the installation of all electrical equipment and systems to ensure conformance with design specifications, industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC), and safety regulations.
Testing and Validation:
Designing and conducting testing methods (e.g., Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), pre-commissioning loop checks) to confirm the functionality and capability of components and the entire system before full operation.
Integration:
Ensuring seamless integration and synchronization of the DG sets with the main power grid or existing plant network.
Operations and Maintenance:
Preventive Maintenance:
Developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and procedures for all electrical equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and resolving complex electrical faults and issues in operational systems to ensure continuous power availability.
Monitoring:
Monitoring system performance, power consumption, and quality metrics (e.g., power factor, harmonics) to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Emergency Response:
Managing emergency power systems, including regular testing of DG sets to ensure they start up and sync correctly during a power outage.
Safety and Compliance:
Standards Adherence:
Ensuring all operations and installations comply with local, national, and international safety codes and environmental regulations.
Risk Management:
Conducting risk assessments, implementing proper grounding, earthing, and lightning protection systems, and ensuring arc flash safety measures are in place.
Training and Audits:
Training technicians and operators on safe electrical practices and participating in regular safety audits and inspections.
