The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment on board ships and in shipyard facilities. The role ensures compliance with marine standards and supports the integration of electrical and electronic systems throughout the vessel construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and review electrical drawings, cable schedules, and single-line diagrams for ship systems.
Supervise installation, termination, and testing of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, communication, and navigation systems.
Ensure compliance with classification society and statutory regulations (e.g., IRS, ABS, DNV).
Coordinate with design, mechanical, and production teams to integrate electrical systems effectively.
Conduct insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, and functional trials of equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and assist in commissioning of shipboard systems.
Maintain proper documentation of electrical work and test reports.
Support procurement and inspection of electrical materials and equipment.
Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards during all electrical activities.
Provide technical support during sea trials and delivery.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
Knowledge of marine electrical systems and automation.
Familiarity with shipbuilding processes and marine classification rules.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Willingness to work in shipyard/yard environments.
