Designing, developing, and testing electrical equipment and systems, focusing on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Analyzing electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Directing and coordinating manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
Performing detailed calculations to establish standards and specifications.
Using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
Supervising or training project team members as necessary.
Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation purposes.
Education and Certification Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering can be advantageous for more advanced positions.
Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) may be required for certain positions, depending on the employer.
