Job Responsibilities of an Electrical Design Engineer
Design and Development
Prepare electrical system designs including power distribution, lighting, and control systems as per project requirements.
Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and layout drawings using AutoCAD or other design software.
Load Calculation and Selection
Perform electrical load calculations and short circuit analysis.
Select appropriate equipment (transformers, panels, circuit breakers, cables, etc.) based on system requirements and standards.
Compliance and Standards
Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes (e.g., IEC, IS, NEC), safety regulations, and client specifications.
Coordinate with consultants and government authorities for design approvals when required.
Coordination with Stakeholders
Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and civil teams to integrate electrical systems within the overall project.
Interact with vendors and suppliers for technical evaluations of materials and equipment.
Documentation and Reports
Prepare technical documents including BOQs, specifications, datasheets, and tender documents.
Maintain proper documentation for design revisions and approvals.
Site Support and Review
Provide design clarifications and technical support during installation and commissioning.
Visit sites to verify execution as per design and resolve any discrepancies.
Innovation and Optimization
Evaluate and implement energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Keep updated with new technologies, tools, and best practices in electrical engineering.
Project Management Support
Assist project managers in preparing timelines, schedules, and progress reports related to electrical design.
Support in resolving design-related issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
