with strong expertise in diesel generator sets (DG Sets) and associated electrical systems. The role involves end-to-end design, application engineering, and accurate cost estimation of DG-based solutions, with a strong focus on
exposure to global OEMs such as Cummins, Caterpillar, MTU, KOEL, Perkins, FG Wilson
. The engineer will work closely with sales, proposal, and execution teams to deliver technically compliant and cost-effective solutions for critical infrastructure projects, including
data centers
.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Design & Application Engineering
Develop electrical designs for DG sets, switchgear, control panels, and synchronization systems.
Prepare
Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
, load calculations, cable sizing, and protection schemes.
Ensure designs comply with
IEC, IEEE, NFPA, ISO, and local regulations
.
Integrate DG sets with UPS, STS, PDUs, and data center electrical systems.
2.
Estimation & Proposal Engineering
Prepare accurate
Bill of Materials (BoM)
, cost estimations, and technical-commercial proposals for DG sets and auxiliary systems.
Evaluate and compare
vendor/OEM quotes
for optimal techno-commercial solutions.
Support sales and business development teams during
tendering and client technical discussions
.
Optimize cost without compromising on quality, standards, and compliance.
3.
Compliance & Documentation
Prepare technical datasheets, compliance statements, and submission documents.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of
data center standards
(TIA-942, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute).
Ensure all documentation aligns with client specifications and international benchmarks.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of
diesel generators, switchgear, LV/MV power systems, and controls
.
Proficiency in
AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar electrical design tools
.
Hands-on expertise in
load analysis, DG sizing, synchronization, and paralleling concepts
.
Strong commercial acumen with ability to prepare
accurate technical & financial proposals
.
Familiarity with
data center electrical infrastructure
(UPS, STS, bus ducts, PDUs, chillers).
Excellent communication, vendor coordination, and client-facing skills.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering
or equivalent.
4-10 years of relevant experience
in DG set application, design, and estimation (preferably in data center or critical infrastructure projects).
Mandatory exposure to global OEMs
such as
Cummins, Caterpillar, MTU, KOEL, Perkins, FG Wilson
(must have handled their DG products in past projects/tenders).
