Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Electrical Design Engineer
to join our engineering team in the transformer manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing distribution and/or power transformers (oil-filled or dry-type), ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with international standards such as IS, IEC, ANSI, and IEEE.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop electrical aspects of transformers including core design, winding design, insulation coordination, and loss optimization.
Perform electrical calculations such as impedance, temperature rise, no-load/load losses, short circuit withstand, etc.
Prepare detailed electrical design documents including winding diagrams, tap changer arrangements, vector group design, and insulation clearances.
Collaborate with mechanical design, production, quality, and testing teams to ensure alignment across departments.
Prepare and review Bill of Materials (BOM), test reports, and customer approval drawings.
Participate in client technical discussions, clarification meetings, and support in proposal engineering when required.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (IS/IEC/ANSI/IEEE) and client specifications.
Work on design improvement initiatives based on field feedback, failure analysis, and testing results.
Support prototype development, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), and type testing as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech).
2-5 years of experience in electrical design of transformers (distribution or power).
Proficiency in transformer design tools/software (e.g., AutoCAD, ELCAD, MagNet, ANSYS, or in-house design tools).
Strong knowledge of transformer design standards: IS 2026, IEC 60076, ANSI C57, etc.
Experience with different transformer types: oil-immersed, dry-type, hermetically sealed, etc. (as applicable).
Skills & Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good understanding of magnetic circuits, thermal behavior, and dielectric coordination.
Ability to interpret customer specifications and translate them into feasible designs.
Effective communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
Experience with high-voltage transformers (66kV, 132kV, or higher).
Exposure to international projects or OEMs.
Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).
