Key Responsibilities

• 3D Harness Integration: Develop complex 3D wiring harness models using the Siemens NX Electrical Routing module, ensuring clash-free routing through locomotive engine compartments, cabs, and underframes.
• 2D Logical Design: Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, wire lists, and block diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical, ensuring alignment with 3D models.
• Manufacturing Documentation: Generate flattened harness drawings (formboards), Bill of Materials (BOMs), and nailboard layouts for production.
• Technical Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with locomotive standards (e.g., AAR, IEEE 1558, and EN 45545 for fire safety).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers to define bracketry, clipping points, and clearance requirements for high-vibration environments.
• Design for Excellence (DFX): Implement design choices that account for high-voltage isolation, EMI/EMC shielding, and ease of maintenance in the field.

Work Experience
Required Skillset & Qualifications
Software Proficiency:

• Siemens NX: Expert-level knowledge of 3D routing, component qualification (connectors/clips), and flattening.

AutoCAD: Proficiency in drafting 2D electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Domain Expertise:

• Proven experience in Locomotive or Heavy Machinery wiring harness design (high-voltage traction motors, control systems, and cab instrumentation).
• Strong understanding of harness protection (conduits, heat-shrink, braided sleeving) and terminal/connector selection (TE, Amphenol, Deutsch).

Technical Knowledge:

• Understanding of bend radius limits, voltage drop calculations, and thermal management for heavy-gauge cables.
• Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) for version control and data management.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Teamcenter Visualization and NX-Electrical interface.

• Knowledge of locomotive propulsion systems or PLC-based control architectures.
• Familiarity with 2025 rail industry safety and sustainability standards.
