The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing the electrical aspects of power and distribution transformers. This includes creating detailed electrical designs, selecting materials and components, ensuring compliance with international standards, and supporting manufacturing, testing, and customer-specific requirements. The role demands collaboration across departments to deliver high-quality, cost-effective transformer solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering:
Design electrical parameters for power and distribution transformers (up to [specify kVA/kV rating as applicable]).
Prepare design calculations for windings, core, insulation, impedance, losses, and temperature rise.
Define and select materials such as core steel, winding conductors, and insulation systems.
Technical Documentation:
Develop electrical drawings including winding diagrams, connection schemes, vector groups, and nameplate details.
Create and maintain detailed design documentation and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Standards & Compliance:
Ensure designs comply with applicable standards such as IEC 60076, ANSI/IEEE C57, IS, and customer-specific requirements.
Support type tests and special tests for certification and customer approvals.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with mechanical designers, production, quality control, and testing teams.
Provide technical support during the manufacturing and testing phases.
Customer & Project Support:
Interface with customers to clarify technical specifications and provide design-related support.
Assist in preparing technical proposals and responding to RFQs and tenders.
Innovation & Optimization:
Optimize transformer designs for performance, cost, efficiency, and manufacturability.
Stay updated with advancements in transformer technology and materials.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
E
xperience-7 years of relevant experience in transformer design, preferably in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in transformer design software (e.g., MagNet, Maxwell, ANSYS, ETAP)
Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory, insulation coordination, short circuit withstand design, and dielectric design
Understanding of CAD tools for schematic preparation (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical)
Soft Skills:
