The EHS Officer will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the health and safety protocols and practices within the cosmetics manufacturing facility. This individual will ensure that the company complies with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices for health and safety. The Health & Safety Officer will implement safety measures, conduct internal training, and audit workplace environments to minimize risks to employees and ensure the safety of the manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health & Safety Compliance: o Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) o Monitor workplace conditions to ensure adherence to safety regulations. o Maintain accurate records of health and safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification: o Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards within the manufacturing plant. o Propose and implement mitigation strategies to address risks associated with machinery, chemicals, and operational procedures.
3. Safety Training: o Organize and conduct regular safety training and workshops for staff. o Ensure employees are educated about workplace hazards and best practices for handling chemicals and machinery safely. o Provide first aid and emergency response training.
4. Accident Investigation & Reporting: o Investigate accidents or near-miss incidents and document findings. o Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of incidents. o Prepare and submit incident reports as required by regulatory bodies.
5. Environmental Health & Safety (EHS): o Oversee waste disposal, chemical handling, and other environmental safety measures in accordance with environmental laws. o Ensure proper storage, labelling, and disposal of hazardous materials in the facility.
6. Monitoring & Audits: o Perform internal audits to assess the effectiveness of the health and safety management system. o Regularly inspect equipment and machinery by coordinating QC & Maintenance team to ensure they meet safety standards.
7. Emergency Preparedness: o Develop and maintain emergency procedures for situations like fire, chemical spills, or natural disasters. o Conduct emergency drills and ensure preparedness for any potential crisis.
8. Health & Safety Reporting: o Regularly report on health and safety performance to management. o Analyze safety data and make recommendations for improving safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
Certification: NEBOSH or OSHA certification is an advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in health and safety management in a manufacturing environment, preferably in cosmetics or similar industries.
Skills: o Strong knowledge of risk assessment, hazard control, and emergency preparedness. o Ability to conduct training and communicate safety procedures clearly. o Familiarity with Health & Safety software and tools for reporting and audits. o Good analytical and problem-solving skills. o Attention to detail and the ability to enforce safety measures effectively.
