EHS Head



DEKRA India Private Limited is looking for a EHS Expert having 8-10 years for supporting and implementing comprehensive Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) activities at Client Site in Mumbai.



Key Responsibilities:




Urgent requirement of EHS Expert with 8-9 Years of experience in the EHS field who will be responsible for the actions below at site. Responsible for EHS Management for the CLIENT, Mumbai operations site as specified in this JD. Identify & define the overarching safety principles to be followed for EIRH based on the kind of operations at EIRH. Responsible for understanding, maintaining and implementing safety at EIRH in accordance with legal ESH and Client ESH requirements. Maintain records and submit reports/returns to legal authority as per legal ESH requirements. & to get applicable permits from the authority before the expiry of permit. Use sound problem solving skills and judgment to identify problems with existing ESH issues and address them. Can communicate knowledgeably and assertively with all departments. Responsible for recommending & advising any safety related regulatory compliance requirements. Needs to ensure that compliance is obtained. Safety Performance, meetings, and Reviews - please mention the frequency offered in below: + Organize & attend the periodic (monthly) site safety meetings.
+ Organize and attend EHS review meeting monthly
+ Prepare the safety performance report and submit quarterly
+ Additionally, along with the representative, DEKRA senior person shall attend the Site EHS review meeting with senior management - frequency quarterly.
+ Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate ESH risks, ensuring robust systems are in place to prevent incidents and manage emergencies effectively.
+ Demonstrates an understanding of safety processes - Safety walks, Hazard identification, Incident/Near Hit/Miss reporting, ESH Management Programs, Work Permit, Contract Worker Safety, life-saving rule etc. and implement.
For Clients Global EHS review DEKRA senior representative. + Conduct PSSR, Audits, Inspections as per Client's and Legal ESH requirements
+ Identify unsafe acts and conditions and suggest its remedial actions. Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
+ Conduct HIRA, Risk assessment and prepare action plan.
+ Ensure and follow up on completion of action plan (CAPA). Actions will be completed by facility manager in coordination with individual lab heads if pertinent to specific lab activities. Rest all actions should pertinent to the common areas should be completed by ESH person.
+ Review of fire hydrant system, smoke alarms systems, gas systems, electrical systems, lab utilities (exhaust, AHU, Water etc).
+ Maintain fire-fighting equipment's for its readily availability.
+ Preparation of procedure, templates/formats and review of its implementation. All safety related procedures are to be implemented by ESH responsible & ensure they are being followed by the person responsible. implementation will be done by CLIENT. Provide suggestions for what type of records to be maintained at site as per local safety and statutory requirements. Also generate those records & maintain them.
+ Documentation of all ESH related topics e.g. Minutes of meeting of safety meetings, audits, Near miss, Incidents, ESH training records etc. Periodically communicate relevant ESH topics (incidents, safety walk points, CAPA etc) and their status.
EHS related training. + Identify EHS related topics for training.
+ Conduct EHS Training at site (ERP, Safety Induction, CLIENT portal reporting and JSR preparation, First aid and firefighting training, Spill kit training, Gas detection system, etc as per the requirement ).
+ Develop training modules and conduct training for employees and contract workers on various ESH topics to improve their ESH awareness and minimize incidents.
Develop Emergency Plan and conduct mock drills periodically as per local regulatory requirement (2 per year). ETP, DG, Utilities Operations: + ETP, STP, WTP & DM Operations: Monitor and manage effluent treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, and demineralization operations. Manage the AMCs for all of them.
+ Review the operations of ETP, suggest if any non-compliance observed.
+ Ensure full EHS compliance of ETP, DG noise monitoring & utilities.
+ Conduct water balance and suggest any conservation potential and implement the same.
+ Drive initiatives to minimize the environmental impact of site operations, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and emissions control.
+ Ensure compliance with environmental permits, reporting, and documentation requirements.
Ensure availability of Emergency Equipment (i.e. SCABA sets, firefighting suits, flame-proof torches, and walkie-talkies). Ensure they are in working condition. Any other activities (OHC management, AMC of equipment's, obtaining license for chemicals) EHS expert will support this is a part of ESH expert responsibility. Visitor Safety: Plan the entire safety of the visitors. Arrange PPE for visitors during lab rounds; supervise visitor safety during site tours. PR Creation: Prepare purchase requests for regulatory and EHS-related materials and services. Work Permit System Monitoring: Oversee daily work permit approvals for ongoing activities. Additional skills + Good communication and Documentation skill in English Language (verbal and written) and interpersonal skill. Having good computer literacy.
+ Must be able to work independently.
+ Knowledge on ESH legal compliance.
+ Ability to work with result-oriented approach when dealing with authorities/stakeholders.
Will be responsible for the safety related topics while choosing the food vendor. Also will be responsible for all safety topics during the regular food handling activity at EIRH. Including having appropriate SOP in place, for the vendor to follow & check if it is being followed. Period (monthly checks & submit report. OHC- will be responsible for providing the necessary information about the requirements of OHC as per the site conditions. Also get the requirements fulfilled at the site, like having the contracts etc for the medical office, nurse, ambulance. OHC Operations-related requirement suggestion will be given by DEKRA. Compliance by CLIENT Advise as per regulatory norms the necessary medical testing to be done . Support during the testing to have all the reports as per HRs requirement Have the OHC maintained as per regulatory norms, including the necessary instruments, their AMCs, etc. OHC Operations-related requirement suggestions will be given to the client.

Qualifications & Skills:



Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Risk Engineering, or a related discipline. 8-10+ years of experience in Quantitative Risk Assessment and process safety. Proven expertise in as EHS Expert having experience in handling Site EHS related activities. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills. Certification in relevant areas (e.g., TUV Functional Safety, CFSE, PMP, PE) is a plus. Strong knowledge of relevant international standards and regulatory guidelines. Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). Strong interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to travel based on project or client needs.
