The EEG/NCV Technician is responsible for performing electroencephalogram (EEG), nerve conduction velocity (NCV), electromyography (EMG), and other neurophysiological tests as prescribed by neurologists. The technician ensures accurate data recording, patient comfort, and proper maintenance of equipment to support clinical diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for EEG, NCV, EMG, and related neurodiagnostic procedures.
Explain test procedures to patients to ensure cooperation and comfort.
Apply electrodes and ensure proper placement and signal quality.
Conduct tests according to established protocols and physician instructions.
Monitor and record patients' neurological responses and document findings.
Assist neurologists during EMG and evoked potential studies.
Ensure cleanliness, calibration, and maintenance of EEG/NCV equipment.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and patient data securely.
Identify and troubleshoot technical issues during testing.
Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols.
Participate in training, audits, and quality improvement programs as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
B.Sc. / Diploma in Neurophysiology / EEG Technology / Medical Electronics or equivalent.
Certification or hands-on training in EEG and NCV testing preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic center (freshers may also apply if trained).
Skills & Competencies:
Good understanding of neurodiagnostic testing principles.
Proficiency in operating EEG/NCV/EMG machines.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle anxious or pediatric patients with care.
Teamwork and time management skills.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position; rotational duties as per departmental requirement.
