Medical Superintendent / Neurologist / Department Head
Position Summary
The EEG Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized electroencephalogram (EEG) tests to assist physicians in diagnosing neurological conditions. The role requires technical expertise, patient handling skills, documentation accuracy, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities1. EEG Testing & Procedures
Perform routine, portable, and long-term EEG recordings as prescribed by physicians.
Set up EEG machines, place electrodes accurately following the international 10-20 system.
Conduct ambulatory EEG, video EEG monitoring (VEEG), and sleep studies when required.
Monitor patient responses and ensure test quality throughout the procedure.
2. Patient Care & Preparation
Explain the EEG procedure clearly to patients and families.
Obtain required patient history and document relevant clinical information.
Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality at all times.
Handle paediatric, geriatric, and critically ill patients with proper care.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate patient records, test logs, and equipment usage information.
Upload, store, and transfer EEG data securely for neurologist review.
Assist physicians in reviewing and interpreting EEG findings when required.
4. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
Check and ensure proper functioning of EEG machines and related accessories.
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely escalation of equipment issues.
Maintain cleanliness, calibration, and readiness of equipment.
5. Quality & Compliance
Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, NABH standards, and infection control practices.
Follow safety guidelines during diagnostic procedures.
Participate in training, audits, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Diploma in Neurotechnology / EEG Technology / Bachelor's in Science or related field.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in EEG testing preferred (freshers with training may also apply).
Skills:
Knowledge of EEG systems and electrode placement
Good communication and patient-handling skills
Attention to detail and ability to identify artifacts in EEG signals
Basic computer literacy
