Role Summary
The EEG/EMG Technician is responsible for performing neurodiagnostic tests such as Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), and related procedures. The role includes preparing patients, operating diagnostic equipment, ensuring patient safety, maintaining accurate records, and supporting neurologists in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Perform EEG, EMG, and NCS procedures as per physician orders and standard protocols.
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the test, obtaining consent, and ensuring comfort.
Properly place electrodes and sensors according to international 10-20 system (for EEG).
Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot EEG/EMG equipment.
Monitor patients during procedures and respond to emergencies or discomfort.
Identify and document artifacts, abnormalities, and technical issues.
Ensure accurate recording of test data for physician interpretation.
Patient Care & Safety
Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
Follow infection control protocols and universal precautions.
Reassure and support anxious or pediatric patients.
Identify and report any adverse reactions or unusual patient responses.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate patient records, test logs, and reports.
Label and store recordings securely.
Assist neurologists in reviewing test results.
Update registers and electronic medical records (EMR).
Equipment & Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
Report equipment malfunction and coordinate repairs.
Maintain inventory of consumables (electrodes, gels, wires, etc.).
Ensure calibration and quality control of machines.
Compliance & Quality Standards
Follow NABH / JCI / Hospital protocols and SOPs.
Participate in internal audits and quality improvement programs.
Maintain professional certification and attend training programs.
Adhere to biomedical waste management policies.
Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Neuro Technology / Neurodiagnostics / Allied Health Sciences
Certification in EEG/EMG technology (preferred)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred)
Skills & Competencies

Ability to operate EEG, EMG, and NCS machines
