Job Description

An Education Counsellor provides guidance and support to students on academic, career, and personal matters. They help students develop academic and career plans, assess their strengths and interests, and navigate educational options. They also offer support for academic challenges, personal issues, and college admissions. Key Responsibilities:

One-on-one and group counselling:

Meeting with students to discuss academic progress, career goals, and personal issues that may impact their learning.

Academic and career planning:

Assisting students in setting goals, developing plans, and exploring various educational and career paths.

Assessment and interpretation:

Administering and interpreting assessments (aptitude, personality, etc.) to help students understand their strengths and weaknesses.

Support programs:

Developing and implementing programs to support students academically and personally (tutoring, mentoring, etc.).

Resource provision:

Providing students with information and referrals to relevant resources and organizations.

Collaboration:

Working with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to support student success.

Record keeping:

Maintaining accurate records of student interactions and progress.

Staying updated:

Keeping up-to-date on educational trends, policies, and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

Experience:

Previous experience in academic advising or counselling.

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Interpersonal skills:

Ability to build rapport with students and work effectively with others.

Problem-solving:

Ability to identify and address student needs and challenges.

Empathy and understanding:

Ability to listen to and support students with diverse needs and concerns.

Organizational skills:

Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
