Role Overview
The Editorial Assistant will support the complete manuscript lifecycle and ensure smooth editorial and peer-review processes for our journals. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. The candidate will interact with authors, reviewers, and editorial board members to maintain high publishing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manuscript Management
Manage the complete submission workflow using systems like ScholarOne, Editorial Manager, or Open Journal Systems (OJS).
Perform initial checks for completeness, formatting, plagiarism, ethical compliance, and journal guidelines.
Coordinate peer review: invite reviewers, send reminders, follow up on deadlines, and track progress.
Maintain accurate records of manuscripts, decisions, revisions, and editorial activity.
Editorial Support
Assist editors in preparing decision letters, reviewer communications, and manuscript transfers.
Ensure open-access requirements are fulfilled (CC BY licenses, APC documentation, copyright forms).
Prepare accepted manuscripts for production with correct formatting and required documentation.
Author & Reviewer Assistance
Provide timely and professional support to authors and reviewers regarding system usage and guidelines.
Resolve basic technical issues and escalate complex ones when needed.
Maintain positive and clear communication with the global research community.
Quality, Policy & Compliance
Verify ethical and policy requirements including COPE guidelines, conflict of interest, funding, and data availability.
Ensure manuscripts meet open-access and funder mandates.
Maintain scientific accuracy, integrity, and consistency across the editorial workflow.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education (Mandatory)
B. Pharmacy
B.Sc. Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Nutrition, Genetics, Zoology, Botany)

Technical Skills
Experience with editorial management systems (OJS, ScholarOne, Editorial Manager).
Understanding of journal workflows and academic publishing processes.
Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Soft Skills
Excellent written and verbal English communication.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work under deadlines with high accuracy.
Professional, calm, and positive approach when dealing with authors and reviewers.
