Job Description

A proficient E-commerce Manager is a multifaceted professional adept at orchestrating the entire online sales lifecycle, from meticulous inventory management and engaging customer communication to strategizing and executing high-impact advertising campaigns across diverse platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, Meesho, Myntra, and Shopify. Their core objective is to significantly boost sales and implement best practices throughout the e-commerce operation.

Key Responsibilities & Expertise:



1. Purchase & Inventory Management:

The E-commerce Manager will expertly oversee purchasing and maintain optimal inventory levels. This includes:

Demand Forecasting:

Utilizing historical sales data, market trends, and promotional calendars to accurately predict product demand.

Inventory Control Systems:

Implementing and managing systems (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, JIT, ABC analysis) to ensure product availability, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.

Supplier Liaison:

Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.

Stock Monitoring & Reconciliation:

Regularly tracking stock levels across all platforms and reconciling discrepancies.

2. Platform Management & Sales Optimization:

A crucial aspect of the role is to "keep an eye on" and drive sales across key Indian and global e-commerce platforms:

Flipkart:

Optimizing product listings with high-quality images and competitive pricing, ensuring sufficient inventory for promotions, and leveraging Flipkart Product Listing Ads (PLA), including Cost-Per-Click (CPC) and Smart ROI campaigns.

Amazon:

Enhancing product detail pages with A+ content, managing competitive pricing strategies, utilizing Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) where appropriate, leveraging Amazon Brand Registry, and managing Amazon Advertising (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display) through keyword and product targeting.

Meesho:

Focusing on high-quality product images and detailed descriptions, setting competitive prices (benefiting from Meesho's 0% commission structure), effective catalog management, and utilizing Meesho's logistics network.

Myntra:

Crafting compelling product descriptions tailored to the fashion-conscious audience, strategic pricing considering Myntra's commission structure, ensuring efficient order fulfillment, and utilizing Myntra's advertising campaign options.

Shopify (or own e-commerce site):

Optimizing the entire conversion funnel by analyzing metrics like view product rate, add-to-cart rate, and checkout-to-purchase rate. Implementing strategies to improve site speed, user experience (UX), and leveraging analytics for data-driven improvements.

3. Marketing & Advertising Prowess:

The manager will possess a strong understanding of digital advertising to drive targeted traffic and conversions:

Facebook Ads:

Creating and managing impactful Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns, developing compelling ad creatives with strong hooks and unique claims, A/B testing different ad sets and creatives, and utilizing retargeting strategies to re-engage potential customers.

Amazon Advertising:

As mentioned above, deep knowledge of Amazon's advertising ecosystem to increase product visibility and sales.

Flipkart Ads:

As mentioned above, proficiency in utilizing Flipkart's advertising tools to boost product discovery.

Cross-Platform Ad Strategy:

Developing an integrated advertising strategy that leverages the strengths of each platform to achieve overall sales and branding objectives.

4. Customer Communication & Escalation Management:

Excellent communication skills are paramount:

Email Management:

Handling all e-commerce-related email correspondence efficiently and professionally. This includes customer inquiries, supplier communications, and internal coordination. Implementing email marketing best practices like segmentation, personalization, and automation for welcome series, abandoned cart recovery, and promotional campaigns.

Customer Escalations:

Addressing and resolving customer escalations with empathy, speed, and effectiveness. This involves active listening, clear communication of solutions, adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), performing root cause analysis for recurring issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction through follow-up.

5. Strategic Development & Analytical Ability:

A strategic and analytical mindset is key to driving growth:

Sales Strategy Development:

Creating and implementing comprehensive strategies to increase sales, market share, and profitability across all channels. This includes promotional planning, pricing strategies, new product launch strategies, and customer retention initiatives.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

Utilizing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, platform-specific dashboards) to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as traffic, conversion rates, customer acquisition cost (CAC), customer lifetime value (CLV), and return on ad spend (ROAS).

Market Research & Competitor Analysis:

Staying updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities and potential threats.

Best Practices Implementation:

Continuously researching and implementing e-commerce best practices in areas like website usability, mobile optimization, checkout process, payment gateway integration, and data security.

Essential Skills & Qualities:



Proven experience in e-commerce management, particularly with platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, Meesho, Myntra, and Shopify. In-depth knowledge of online marketplaces and their respective algorithms and advertising platforms. Strong understanding of inventory management principles and software. Expertise in digital marketing, including SEO, SEM, social media marketing, and email marketing. Proficiency in managing Facebook Ads, Amazon Ads, and Flipkart Ads. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Customer-centric mindset with a passion for delivering excellent service. Adaptability and a proactive approach to learning in the ever-evolving e-commerce landscape.
