Job Description

The ECHS Head is responsible for overseeing all activities related to Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) billing, patient services, and coordination with ECHS polyclinics, regional centers, and hospital departments. The role ensures accurate billing, timely submission of claims, and compliance with ECHS guidelines and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

ECHS Operations Management:

Supervise and manage all ECHS-related processes within the hospital. Coordinate with ECHS polyclinics and regional centers for patient approvals, referrals, and claim settlements. Ensure smooth admission, treatment, and discharge processes for ECHS beneficiaries.

Billing & Claims:

Oversee ECHS billing, documentation, and claim preparation. Verify patient records, authorization letters, and treatment codes as per ECHS guidelines. Submit bills within stipulated timelines and ensure timely reimbursement. Maintain and reconcile ECHS outstanding statements and payments.

Compliance & Documentation:

Ensure strict adherence to ECHS and CGHS guidelines, policies, and documentation standards. Keep updated on any revisions in ECHS tariffs, procedures, and circulars. Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections.

Coordination:

Liaise with the medical, nursing, and finance departments for proper documentation and claim support. Handle queries and grievances of ECHS patients courteously and efficiently. Represent the hospital during ECHS audits or inspections.

Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare monthly reports on billing, claim submission, and reimbursement status. Analyze rejected claims and take corrective actions to minimize future errors.

Qualifications & Experience:

Graduate / Postgraduate (Preferably in Healthcare Management, BAMS). Minimum

5-8 years

of experience in hospital billing or ECHS coordination. Sound knowledge of

ECHS guidelines
