Job Description

The ECHS Billing Head is responsible for managing and supervising all activities related to ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) billing, documentation, claim submission, and settlement. The role ensures accurate billing, timely claim processing, compliance with ECHS empanelment terms, and effective coordination with ECHS polyclinics and regional centers.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and monitor the entire ECHS billing process, from patient registration to final claim submission. Ensure accurate preparation and verification of bills as per ECHS guidelines and approved tariff. Coordinate with ECHS polyclinics, regional centers, and internal departments for smooth claim processing. Maintain and update records of all ECHS patients, bills, approvals, and claim settlements. Track claim rejections and resubmissions; ensure timely rectification and recovery. Monitor credit limits, outstanding payments, and follow up for pending reimbursements. Ensure compliance with ECHS policies, audit requirements, and hospital SOPs. Prepare regular MIS reports on billing status, claims, collections, and rejections. Train and guide the billing team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in ECHS billing operations. Liaise with hospital departments (Finance, Medical Records, etc.) to resolve billing discrepancies.

Qualifications & Experience:

Graduate/ Postgraduate in Healthcare Management, BAMS, BDS or equivalent. Minimum

5-7 years of experience

in hospital billing, with at least

3 years handling ECHS billing

or government scheme billing (CGHS, ESIC, etc.). Sound knowledge of ECHS tariff structures, claim documentation, and settlement procedures. Proficiency in hospital billing software and MS Office applications.
