The Echo Technician will be responsible for performing echocardiographic examinations and assisting cardiologists in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions. The role requires technical expertise in operating ultrasound and echocardiography equipment, accuracy in reporting, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
Key Responsibilities
Perform 2D, M-Mode, Doppler, Stress Echo, and other specialized echocardiographic procedures as prescribed by the physician.
Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning efficiently.
Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, and ensure comfort and safety during examinations.
Accurately capture, document, and store echocardiographic images for physician review.
Assist cardiologists in diagnostic assessments during procedures.
Ensure infection control and sterilization protocols are strictly followed.
Maintain detailed patient records and reports in compliance with hospital standards.
Monitor equipment usage and report any technical issues to the biomedical engineering team.
Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure high standards of diagnostic accuracy.
Support training of junior technicians and interns, if required.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / B.Sc. in Cardiac Technology, Echocardiography, or related field.
Certification in Echocardiography preferred.
Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in a multi-speciality hospital or cardiac care center.
Proficiency in handling advanced echocardiography equipment and technology.
Skills & Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of echocardiographic procedures.
Excellent patient care and communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to generate accurate diagnostic reports.
Ability to work collaboratively with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, and emergency situations as required.
Work Environment
Based in the Cardiology Department, with rotation to Cath Lab, ICU, or Emergency areas as required.
May involve assisting in on-call duties for emergency cases.
