WSP is seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Consultant to support our expanding technical function within the UK-wide national ecology team. This role, based in Noida or Bengaluru, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to ecological data analysis, reporting, and project delivery while collaborating with UK-based ecologists.
The successful candidate will assist in enhancing technical capabilities, producing high-quality outputs across a range of ecological and environmental projects, and contributing to innovation in ecological consultancy. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow their expertise and make a meaningful impact within WSP's global ecology business.
Assist in habitat loss/gain calculations, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and ecological impact evaluations.
Support the use of digital tools (e.g., GIS, remote sensing, data visualization) to improve ecological deliverables.
Contribute to the development of habitat mitigation and compensation plans under UK legislation.
Prepare and review ecological reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), BNG assessments, and Nature Conservation (NC) reports.
Participate in internal knowledge sharing and collaborate with global ecology colleagues.
Support proposal writing and other business development activities.
Key Competencies / Skills
Essential Skills
Experience in ecological consultancy or conservation science, with familiarity with UK ecological standards and legislation.
Competence in ecological data handling and interpretation.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Strong written communication skills for technical reporting.
Working knowledge of GIS and spatial analysis tools.
Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
Problem-solving mindset and willingness to innovate.
Understanding of European Protected Species and licensing basics.
Exposure to biodiversity metrics and habitat condition assessments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic database tools.
Master's degree or higher in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related discipline.
Having appropriate qualification from relevant UK institutions is an advantage.
