The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) is responsible for providing continuous medical coverage and emergency care to inpatients and outpatients in a hospital or healthcare setting. The DMO ensures prompt assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, and coordinates with consultants and healthcare staff for appropriate care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide initial assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and take immediate action to stabilize the patient.
Attend to patients admitted through the emergency department and refer cases to specialists as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
Conduct regular ward rounds and update consultants on patients' progress.
Liaise with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Ensure proper documentation of admissions, discharges, and deaths.
Assist consultants in procedures and monitor post-operative and critically ill patients.
Ensure all clinical protocols and hospital policies are followed during shifts.
Perform CPR and manage code blue situations effectively.
Handle medico-legal cases (MLC) as per hospital and legal protocols.
Monitor and report adverse events, infections, and unexpected clinical deteriorations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
MBBS ,BAMS or BHMS from a recognized medical college.
License/Registration:
Valid registration with Medical Council of [Insert Country/State].
Experience:
3-4 years .
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.
Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.
Empathy, ethical conduct, and a commitment to patient care.

Night shifts.
Fast-paced and high-pressure environment, especially in emergency and ICU settings.
Continuous standing and walking may be required during shifts.
