Job Description

The Duty Medical Officer is responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients, managing emergencies, and ensuring smooth hospital operations during assigned duty hours. The role requires strong clinical skills, quick decision-making, and effective coordination with healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct patient assessments including history-taking, physical examination, and diagnostic evaluation. Provide emergency care, resuscitation, and stabilization of critically ill patients. Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments as per hospital protocols. Monitor patient progress and escalate cases to senior consultants when necessary. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure timely documentation. Collaborate with nursing staff, paramedics, and specialists for comprehensive patient care. Handle medico-legal cases and ensure compliance with hospital policies. Participate in ward rounds, casualty management, and outpatient services as required.

Qualifications & Skills

MBBS degree from a recognized institution (MD or specialization preferred). Valid medical registration with the appropriate council. Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills. Ability to manage emergencies and critical care situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends.
