The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) is responsible for providing immediate medical care, monitoring patient conditions, assisting senior doctors, and ensuring smooth clinical operations during assigned duty hours. The DMO acts as the first responder for emergencies and plays a key role in patient management and documentation.
2. Job Responsibilities
A. Patient Care
Perform initial assessment and examination of patients.
Provide routine and emergency medical care.
Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and clinical progress.
Initiate and manage basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) as per training.
Administer medications, IV fluids, infusions, and carry out medical procedures as instructed.
Assist consultants in rounds and implement treatment plans.
B. Emergency Management
Handle emergency admissions and stabilize critical patients.
Coordinate with specialists for referrals and escalations.
Perform emergency procedures (e.g., CPR, airway management, wound care) as per competency level.
C. Clinical Documentation
Maintain accurate patient records, case sheets, and progress notes.
Document all treatments, interventions, and observations in EMR or manual files.
Ensure timely completion of discharge summaries and transfer notes.
D. Coordination & Communication
Communicate effectively with nursing staff, paramedics, and other departments.
Update relatives about patient condition as per hospital protocol.
Coordinate investigations (lab, radiology) and follow up on reports.
E. Operational Responsibilities
Ensure availability and functioning of medical equipment during duty hours.
Report incidents, unusual cases, or equipment failures to senior staff.
Support infection control protocols and patient safety standards.
3. Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
MBBS (mandatory); valid medical license/registration.
Experience:
0-3+ years.
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS preferred.
Skills:
Strong clinical judgment

4. Work Schedule
Day shift 8am to 6pm
Weekly once day & night Rotational shifts. fixed duty as assigned.
Availability for weekend and holiday shifts if required.
