Role Summary

The Duty Medical Officer is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical care, initial assessment of patients, emergency management, coordination with consultants, and ensuring smooth clinical operations across assigned units.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Assessment & Clinical Care

Conduct initial assessment and examination of patients in wards, ICU, or emergency. Document patient history, clinical findings, and treatment orders. Initiate basic life support measures and stabilize patients until senior consultants arrive. Monitor patient progress and update charts regularly.

2. Emergency & Critical Care Management

Respond promptly to Code Blue, trauma, and other medical emergencies. Support airway management, IV access, medication administration, and resuscitation procedures. Coordinate with ICU teams for critically ill patient transfers.

3. Coordination With Consultants

Inform consultants about patient conditions, abnormal findings, and significant clinical changes. Implement consultant orders accurately and promptly. Assist consultants during rounds and procedures.

4. Clinical Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate medical records, treatment sheets, and progress notes. Ensure proper handover to next shift DMO with complete clinical updates. Follow hospital protocols, policies, and infection control standards.

5. Patient & Attender Communication

Communicate patient status updates clearly to attenders as per protocols. Handle patient/attender queries professionally and empathetically.

6. Medication & Treatment Management

Administer and monitor medications as per prescription. Ensure timely diagnostic tests and follow-up on reports.

Qualifications & Skills

MBBS

with valid Medical Council Registration (Mandatory). Experience:

Minimum 1-3 years in a hospital setup

(ICU/ER experience preferred). Good clinical judgment and emergency response skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
