The Duty Manager is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel or resort during their shift. They act as the primary point of contact for guests, handle emergencies, coordinate with various departments, and ensure high standards of service delivery. The role requires strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to uphold the brand's standards and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Relations:
Act as the face of the hotel during the shift and ensure a warm, personalized experience for all guests.
Handle guest complaints and feedback professionally and resolve issues promptly.
Monitor guest satisfaction and proactively anticipate needs and expectations.
Operations Oversight:
Oversee daily operations across all departments (front office, housekeeping, F&B, security, maintenance, etc.).
Conduct property walks to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met.
Ensure smooth check-in/check-out processes and assist during peak hours.
Team Coordination:
Supervise and support front-line staff, providing guidance and ensuring service excellence.
Coordinate inter-departmental communications to resolve operational issues.
Ensure proper shift handovers and maintain detailed logbooks.
Crisis & Emergency Management:
Act as the on-site point of contact for emergencies (medical, fire, security, etc.).
Follow standard operating procedures during incidents and escalate as needed.
Ensure guest and staff safety at all times.
Administrative Duties:
Prepare shift reports and communicate important information to senior management.
Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and service standards.
Monitor room availability and collaborate with reservations/revenue team if needed.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in front office or operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Experience in luxury resorts or hotels preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Familiarity with property management systems (e.g., Opera, IDS, Fidelio).
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
