We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Duty Engineer to join our team in Chennai, India. As a Duty Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational excellence of our facility by ensuring all building systems are functioning optimally and addressing maintenance issues promptly.
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance
Respond promptly and professionally to guest and staff maintenance requests, resolving issues efficiently
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance using computerized systems
Implement and support preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
Monitor energy usage and actively participate in energy conservation initiatives
Respond to emergencies such as power failures, equipment breakdowns, and safety hazards with a sense of urgency
Collaborate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and servicing
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including local building codes and regulations
Assist in supervising maintenance staff or technicians during shifts as required
Participate in shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating flexibility and resilience
Qualifications
Diploma or certification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment
Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire safety
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a detail-oriented approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service
Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Chennai
Knowledge of energy conservation practices and their implementation
Basic computer skills for record-keeping, reporting, and using maintenance management systems
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency situations, demonstrating flexibility and resilience
