About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic
Duty Doctor
to join our fertility care team. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for our patients, managing their initial assessments, coordinating their treatment cycles, and ensuring they feel supported throughout their fertility journey. You will work closely with our specialized consultants to ensure smooth hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Intake & History Taking
Conduct detailed initial case taking for infertility patients, recording medical, surgical, and reproductive history.
Document patient vitals and preliminary data in the hospital files/EMR system accurately.
Explain the basics of fertility workups (blood tests, scans) to patients as prescribed by the Consultant.
2. Ward & OP Management
Manage Outpatient (OP) flow, ensuring patients are prepped and files are ready before they see the Consultant.
Handle In-patient (IP) rounds, monitoring post-procedure recovery (e.g., after OPU or Hysteroscopy) and managing discharge summaries.
Administer basic medications and IV fluids as per the Consultant's standing orders and established protocols.
3. Patient Counseling & Coordination
Serve as a bridge between the Chief Consultant and the patient, clarifying doubts regarding prescriptions, diet, and lifestyle modifications.
Counsel patients on medication timings (crucial in IVF/IUI cycles) and injection schedules.
Assist in maintaining high patient satisfaction by providing emotional support and clearing apprehensions about fertility treatments.
4. Emergency & General Administration
Handle basic medical emergencies within the hospital premises until the Consultant arrives.
Supervise nursing staff to ensure hygiene, proper waste disposal, and adherence to hospital protocols.
Assist in preparing medical reports and maintaining statutory registers.
Required Skills
Clinical Knowledge:
Sound knowledge of general medicine and basic gynecology terminology.
Communication:
Fluency in
Telugu
is mandatory; ability to speak English/Hindi is an added advantage. Must be able to explain complex treatments in simple language to patients.
Empathy:
Fertility treatments can be stressful; a patient, calm, and supportive attitude is essential.
Computer Literacy:
Basic knowledge of using a computer for patient data entry.
